What We Learned at NMHC’s Annual Meeting

To kick off 2022, the Alfred team attended NMHC’s Annual Meeting in sunny Orlando where industry leaders and disruptors looked at what’s next in real estate development and management. Like the South Florida weather, the disposition of the conference was hopeful and bright.

Despite the challenges the real estate industry faced since early 2020, with skyrocketing construction costs, labor shortages, supply chain constraints; the industry has experienced a healthy increase in demand for multifamily and rental properties, technological innovations, and continuous adaptations in how we view and shape the category of living.

An emerging theme in conference sessions, spoke to the concept that the best ideas come out of circumstances that require urgent action and attention. Alfred’s company culture has benefited from the learnings and adjustments made to our business model in response to subsequent COVID surges. In order to protect our dedicated on-site team members, including our Alfred Home Managers, as well as the residents we serve through the Hello Alfred app, we not only invested in the CDC’s recommendations for personal protective equipment, but we also decided to pivot the way we delivered service.

During the peak of the pandemic we shifted our service delivery to focus on the essentials residents needed, including groceries, laundry and package management. We paused many of our in-home services and in-person events for a period of time, and instead expanded our weekly virtual health and wellness classes and events, which allowed us to monitor trends and keep our teams and communities healthy.

We look forward to sharing updates about Alfred’s solution stacks and perspectives on multifamily living through technology and service.
